University of North Bengal invites online application for admission in Master of Library and Information Science [MLISc] Course for the session 2015-16.

SUBJECTS OF STUDY: Masters of Library and Information Science.
 The System of Examinations is divided into four Semesters with the provisions of continuing evaluation. Examinations are held at the end of each Semester.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION:
1.      Postgraduates, Honours Graduates and General Graduates in any stream from any recognized university with BLIS shall be eligible to apply for admission.
Candidates passed in BLIS course, three years prior to current academic session shall not be eligible to seek admission into MLIS course (e.g., candidate passing BLIS examination in 2012 or before shall not be eligible for admission in MLIS course of the session 2015-2016). Provided that in all cases such admission shall be subject to conditions and procedure to be laid down by the Executive Council or by such other authority as may be empowered by the Executive Council in this regard.

2. Admission to all courses shall be made on the basis of such principles of selection as may be laid down.

 3. The SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B Candidates who have found place in the general merit list on the basis of their merit shall also be placed in the list of reserved seats for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B as per their inter se merit and can exercise their option on whether they would like to be placed in the general merit list or the separate merit list for reserved candidates of SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B. Admission would be made as per the option exercised by the candidates. The option once exercised shall not be altered under any circumstances.

4. A student admitted to one Department will not be allowed to take transfer to any other Department.

5. Those who will be declared eligible for admission shall have to pay all charges required for admission within a time limit as may be fixed. They have to submit two Affidavits towards curbing the menace of ragging (one by the candidate & another one by the Parent/Guardian), signed before a Notary, to this office at the time of admission which will remain in force during the whole tenure of the course of study.

6. If a student selected for admission does not get himself/herself admitted within the specified time he/she will forfeit his/her claim for admission.

7. The name of a student shall be struck off the Roll if he/she fails to attend 50% of the classes held during the first 7 teaching days. A student has to attend at least 75% of the classes and tutorials held in a Semester to be eligible to sit for the Examination.

8. A student who wants to join this University on migration from another University shall have to submit a Migration Certificate and Registration Fee of Rs. 250/- within one month from the date of admission.

9. Online application for admission in MLIS course is mandatory for all potential incumbents. Applicants are instructed to visit http://www.nbu.ac.in for detail information regarding online application.

10. After admission if at any point of time during the tenure of the course it is detected that mark sheet/submitted and / or the information given by the candidate is/are forged/false, the admission of the candidate will be cancelled by the authority forthwith.

11. Course fee will not be refunded if a candidate discontinues the course or changes the subject under any circumstances.

TUITION FEES AND OTHER CHARGES:
Students will have to pay the fees as prescribed by the concerned Statute, Ordinance & Regulations at the time of admission through online admission portal.

There are two hostels for men and three for women. Students willing to stay in the hostel shall have to apply in the prescribed form along with the proof of residence at the time of admission.

MEDIUM: English shall be the medium of instruction and Examination.

UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP AND GRANTS:
 Free and half-free studentship are awarded. Applications will be invited in this connection by separate notification in due time. The eligible SC/ST, OBC, PwD students etc. should submit their scholarship form for the academic year by February for processing scholarship to SC/ST, OBC, PwD etc. each year.

MEDICAL FACILITIES:
There is a Health Centre within the University Campus. Students get free medical aid as per existing rules as and when required while within campus.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
Students are expected to participate in the corporate activities of the University like Social and Cultural activities, Debates, Symposium, Sports and activities under the Centres for Continuing Education and Area Studies.

COST OF ONLINE APPLICATION FEE: Rs. 100/- for general and Rs. 35/- for SC/ST/OBC candidates of the State of West Bengal only on production of relevant certificates.
